Forensic & Justice-Involved Support

Specialist NDIS support for people with disability who are involved in the justice system — focused on rehabilitation, reintegration, and building a life beyond the system.

Specialist Support for Justice-Involved Participants

Krain Care Services has specialist expertise in supporting people with disability who are involved in, or transitioning out of, the criminal justice system. This includes people on community orders, those leaving custodial settings, and individuals involved with forensic mental health services.

We understand the unique challenges and barriers this cohort faces. Our team works collaboratively with justice agencies, courts, forensic mental health services, and community organisations to provide integrated, person-centred support.

NDIS Access for Justice-Involved Participants

People with disability who are justice-involved may be eligible for NDIS funding, including while in custody or on community orders. The NDIS has specific pathways for people in state and territory justice systems. Our team has experience navigating these pathways and can assist with access requests, planning, and coordination of supports during transition from custody to community.

Our Forensic Practice Approach

1

Risk-Informed, Not Risk-Averse

We take a balanced approach to risk — informed by evidence and focused on building protective factors rather than simply managing risk.

2

Trauma-Informed Care

Many justice-involved people have experienced significant trauma. Our team is trained to provide safe, sensitive support that acknowledges this history.

3

Desistance-Focused Practice

We draw on desistance theory — supporting people to build identity, agency, and social bonds that support a life free from offending.
